Rebecca's Soap Delicatessen - Handmade Shea Butter Soaps and Goat Milk Lotions "Homegrown" in Roanoke, VA
Rebecca's Soap Delicatessen is a handmade, indie biz nestled in the Roanoke Valley in Southwestern Virginia and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. The shop currently sells a line of handmade shea butter soaps and luxurious handmade goat milk lotions. Rebecca's product focus is always on creating the best cold process, handmade soaps. You'll find that Rebecca's handcrafted, divinely scented soaps contain skin loving ingredients like shea butter, rice bran, coconut, and olive oils. They create a wonderfully, rich lather that you can both shave with or use as a shampoo bar. All of Rebecca's handmade shea butter soaps are made from scratch using the cold process soapmaking method, never a pre-existing base. You'll love the difference Rebecca's handmade soaps make on your skin.

Founded in 2001, Rebecca's Soap Delicatessen is owned and operated by Rebecca D. Dillon. This was when Rebecca began making handmade, shea butter soaps as an alternative to commercial soaps that she found drying and would often break out her skin. Having always been crafty and never without paper, crayons, tape and scissors on hand as a child, Rebecca went on in her adult years to obtain a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Roanoke College. While there she studied a bit of everything including photography, screen printing, graphic design, pottery, 3-D design, drawing, painting, art history, poetry and even writing. Rebecca is currently a single mother of one and enjoys reading, shopping and making handmade soap. If you're interested in making your own handmade soaps, please visit Rebecca's blog, Soap Deli News, for a tutorial on the cold process soapmaking method.
Why handmade soap?
Handmade soap is gentler because it's made with natural ingredients, not synthetic ingredients whose sole purpose is to create a foam or lather. Because of this many individuals who can't use commercial soap, can use handmade soaps. Worried about the lather in handmade soap? There's no worry. All of Rebecca's soaps use specific oils known for their properties in soapmaking to create a wonderfully rich lather while being gentle on your skin.
